About the Photographer: Suchit lives in Mumbai (Bombay), India and has been fortunate to have had an opportunity to travel multiple times around the globe including to some interesting & off beat locations. Some of the countries he has visited during these travels are: USA, Canada, UK, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, UAE, Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos PDR, Mongolia, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Australia and of course his home country India. While an IT professional with a strong background in computers having spent nearly 2 decades in the field of ICT, photography is a significant part of his life. He often jokes that this way he used both his left and right side of the brain but most of all he follows his heart.

Suchit has held photography exhibitions in Cambodia, Bangladesh and India. In terms of his gear, he currently he uses the Nikon D300 camera with Nikkor 18-200 VRII, Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED VR, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR, Nikon AF 50 mm f/1.4 D, Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX Macro, and Tokina AF 12-24mm AT-X 124 Pro DX f/4 lens. He also uses the Nikon D200 & earlier used to use the Nikon D70 with its Nikkor 18-70mm AF-S DX f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED and other cameras besides other gears like flash, tripod, filters, carry bags etc.

Loneliness
Lonely leaf as shot in North America.

Jal Mahal ("Water Palace") is an 18th century pleasure palace and is located in Jaipur (Capital of Rajasthan State). The palace is amidst Mansagar lake, which is nestled amongst the Nahargarh hills. The Jal Mahal Palace, Jaipur is noted for its sophisticated design and grand architecture. The first four floors of this building is under water, only the top floor remains outside. This image has been shot enroute the Nahargarh Fort which was built in 1799 and from which one gets a nice view of the Palace, Lake and surrounding areas. The palace itself is now abandoned, but reasonably well preserved.

"The Promise of Tomorrow" - Kothmale Radio Station is located in Sri Lanka a country which has become split between the Sinhalese and Tamil ethnic groups. Although a Sinhalese area, couple of Tamilian children come to the Kothmale Radio station to learn computers. Despite language barriers, the teachers are able to guide and help these children with a promise for a better tomorrow.

The state of Rajasthan is located in the Western part of India. Sand dunes, wooded hills, and amazing lakes & palaces come together with men & women in colourful turbans & skits to make a visit enchanting. The mood & rhythm changes from one region to the other but what hits you most is the warm and friendly smiles across the region. Some of the major tourists destinations of Pushkar, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur & Jaipur are located in this State as also some of the best wildlife sanctuaries. The history of Rajasthan dates back to 5,000 years and the heritage & rich landscape reflects the past glories of the Rajas and their palaces. While the big cities are fast moving towards a westernized life-style, its the villages and outskirts that have still retained the traditional ways. Definately worth a visit. Best time is around Aug to Oct. Time it with one of the major fairs (such as Pushkar Mela in Feb) and you will have a unique and unforgettable experience for sure.

The 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is the world's tallest twin towers. At 58.4 meters is the sky bridge at levels 41 and 42 (floors). This unique double deck sky bridge stands 170 metres above street level and is supported by archs.

The towers are designed and created by the renowned architect, Cesar Pelli & Associates. The geometric pattern of the islamic heritage was used to design the floor plates. The exterior is a combination of glass and stainless steel.

As we were walking in the fields in Goa, we came across this small hut with a locked door. The peeling paint and the unkept door caught my attention.

Nandita Tripathi performed the Orissa State's Sambhalpuri dance. Different artists at Suraj Kund Mela 2008, Haryana, North India. The Suraj Kund Mela is an annual fair held near Delhi. Folk dances, handicrafts and a lot of fun.

Bada Imambada, Lucknow, India. The Bada Imambada was built by Asaf-ud-Daula in the year 1784. Its construction was a part of the famine relief project, where a number of labourers were appointed to build this Imambada. It is a huge vacant hall with a length of 50 m and a height of 15 m. Close to the Imambara is the Bhul Bhulaiya - an amazing maze that might need a tourist guide to get through. Long passages with viewing areas were used by soldiers to defend the structure.

This one is a composite of two images taken of the Canadian Parliament building in Ottawa, Canada. The sky and colours are as they were that evening. Other than UV, no filter used.

12 Apostles (One fell day before!) [Victoria, Australia]
An image shot in the evening's setting sun of The Twelve Apostles, Victoria, Australia. The Twelve Apostles are located along the spectacular Great Ocean Road. They were originally named the 'Sow and Piglets'. The Twelve Apostles were formed by erosion of the original coastline. The constant action of the sea on the limestone slowly wore down the rocky cliff, gradually leaving individual rocks.

This image has been used in the inside CD cover of Rick Seaton's music CD.

Jurong BirdPark is the largest in the Asia Pacific and the best in the world. Spread over 20 hectare it has a collection of more than 9,000 birds from 600 species The Park has four aviaries including the worlds largest walk-in aviary.

Smartly dressed and ever smiling & courteous attendants inside Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur. The fort has seven gates of which the noted ones are the Jayapol, built by Maharaja Man Singh in 1806; Fatehpol or the Victory Gate built by Maharaja Ajit Singh; and the Lohapol or the Iron Gate. The fort is situated at an altitude of about 125 metres, the Mehrangarh Fort is spread over an area of 5 sq. km in the heart of the city. Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Western India.

When visiting the villages (in India) its hard not to get moved by the level of poverty in the country side and to experience the feeling of helplessness that they feel. Jan 2007.

Welcome to Langkawi.

Eagle Square / Dataran Lang is Langkawi's most prominent landmark for visitors arriving by sea.
Situated near the Kuah jetty, the main attraction of the square is the magnificent statue of the reddish brown eagle majestically poised for flight. According to local folklore, the name Langkawi itself is derived from the eagle or "helang". In old Malay, "kawi" denotes reddish brown - hence, Langkawi means reddish brown eagle!

Lonely tree in Gobi Desert [Mongolia]. Seen in this image is the vehicle in which we crossed major distances of the Gobi Desert. My two collegues and a driver are seen next to the car. What a fun journey and unique in so many ways.

Old Buddhist man in Bhutan. Seen in the image is a prayer wheel which is rotated. Each rotation is considered a prayer said, so the people walk turning this prayer wheel around.

B&W converted image of the coolie (baggage loader) at the Ooty railway station. For the Niligiri Passenger Train (NMR) this station is the starting point for the train to go to Mettupalayam (near Coimbatore). He was such a warm and friendly person.

Young Buddhist monk in Paro, Bhutan. South Asia.

Surajkund Mela 2009, held near Delhi in Haryana North India. The Suraj Kund Mela is an annual fair. Surajkund comes alive for two weeks with the rhythm and beats of folk dances, lots of shopping opportunity and a riot of colors each year in early Feb. Folk dances, handicrafts and a whole lot of fun.

Number of visitors enjoy coming and re-living the old times at Humanyun's tomb which is an UNESCO's designated world heritage site.

Humanyun's tomb was built (completed) in 1570 on the orders of Hamida Banu Begum who was Humayun's wife. Construction was started in 1562. The tomb is an UNESCO's designated world heritage site. The site is a complex of buildings.

Krishna Janmashtami is observed on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha (the dark half) of the month of Shraavana in the Hindu calendar, when the Rohini Nakshatra (Western star name: Aldebaran) is ascendent. The festival falls during August/September. In 2005, it was celebrated on 27th Aug'08.

The ritual is to fast the previous day followed by a night-long vigil commemorating the birth of Krishna at night. At midnight, the deity of the infant Krishna is bathed, placed in a cradle and worshipped.The fast is completed after aarti (a special prayer).

Janmaashtami, popularly known in Mumbai and Pune as Dahi Handi is celebrated with enormous zeal and enthusiasm. Various Handis are set up locally in several parts of the city, and groups of youngsters, called Govinda, travel around in trucks trying to break as many handis as possible during the day.
